Hi, my name is Mohamed Samake, and I am in Business Management. I have been in this program for 2 years and my glossary is for all the community. business management is the art of planning, organization and controlling the activities of a business to achieve their goals. It features in management, finance, business, marketing, and organization. I have been using my book to search for words for this glossary. Words that are pretty much used in this field of program. - account
- noun
- A record or statement of financial expenditure and receipts relating to a particular period or purpose.
- Example: All the details of this transaction should be taking account in our book.

- accounting
- noun
- The action or process of keeping financial accounts.
- Example: The annual report is in compliance with specific accounting requirements.

- asset
- noun
- Property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.
- Example: This new technology is proving to be the biggest asset for our new smarter working approach.

- budget
- noun
- An estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.
- Example: What is your budget mister?

- contract
- noun
- A written or spoken agreement, especially one concerning employment, sales, or tenancy, that is intended to be enforceable by law.
- Example: We agreed with this contract right?

- noun
- Amounts due to be paid to creditors within twelve months.
- Example: Net working capital might be cash or might be the difference between current assets and current liabilities.

- noun
- A person or business that employs one or more people, especially for wages.
- Example: He was fired after he was caught stealing from his employer.

- The management of large amounts of money, especially by governments or large companies.
- Example: He took a job to finance his stay in Netherland.

- financial statement
- noun
- Writing records that convey the financial activities of a company. A document showing credits and debits.
- Example: What is your financial statement right now?

- gross income
- noun
- Receipts and gains from all sources less the cost of goods sold.
- Example: The website takes commission from gross income earned.

- gross profit
- noun
- Sales minus all costs directly related to thoses sales, including manufacturing expenses, raw materials, labor selling, marketing and other expenses.
- Example: A company's gross profit is the difference between its total income from sales and its total production costs.

- interest
- noun
- A change for a loan, usually a percentage of the amount loaned.
- Example: You will pay the total of this purchase with 5% interest on it.

- interest expense
- noun
- The amount allocated for interest payments made by a company.

- noun
- The result of selling assets for a price lower than the original purchase price.
- Example: We experienced a very big loss recently.

- noun
- The total revenue in an accounting period minus all expenses during the same period.
- Example: In recent years, the Fed has had net earnings after expenses of over $15 billion dollars per year.

- profit
- noun
- A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.
- Example: The company made a profit this year.

- residual value
- noun
- Estimated scrap value of an asset at the of its economic or useful life.
- Example: Equipment for this service now has little to no residual value.

- retained earnings
- noun
- Profit generated by a company that is not distributed to shareholders as dividends but is either reinvested in the business or kept as reserve for specific objectives.
- Example: “We would then add the $400,000 as retained earnings to the shareholders' equity of the company's balance sheet,” Lemay says.

- running cost
- noun
- Money spent by a company for the purpose of managing the business and/or for operating machinery for use in the business.
- Example: The aim is to cut running costs by £ 90 million per year.

- noun
